how the media destroyed the philippines

1. It is comprised of 95 percent negative energy and 5 percent sort of positive energy. How are you going to feel refreshed in the morning when all you will see is crime on the streets? obvious marketing ploys? traffic?

2. while it is true that news keep us informed, it is not the complete story, most of the time they sensationalize it, i dont know why people love the drama, but it never really brings back hope and energy

3. People in power want us to panic, they want us to believe that the world is bleak and sad, lonely and useless, so that we will lose hope and not work and think of ways to move on. People who own TV channels such as this want us to believe that we can no longer do anything with our lives, one of the greatest lie that media gives.

4. watching television is proven to affect the way we judge beauty, you know the world is sick when even kate middleton one of the thinnest women i know would be edited in the magazines to look thinner, ist sick. i bet if we depict all women on tv with a bit of curves, everyone would stop obsessing and killing themselves with dieting. dieting must never be for vanity, and a perfect waistline does not really improve self-esteem. it does not change who you are deep within, it just makes you feel superior. the bad kind of superior.

media is the reason why sicknesses like anorexia nervosa and bulimia exist, it is they who make women and men feel insecure about themselves. they who project this image that we are not enough, that we are somehow lacking all of the time and that we need more. hence our never ending unhappiness.

5. why the hell would you want to hear news about kris aquino's life, kim chu or anne curtis? if they have another boyfriend what is that to us? is that our good news, why cant they report about real things that are occuring in provinces, art festivals, positive news about new livelihood projects, new kinds of mayor and governors who have changed their cities, media is set on telling one story over and over again. im tired of it, aren't you?

6. yes, they inform us about new outbreaks like meningococcemia and dengue fever, but they just make us panic, panic, panic, panic, why the hell cant they report about how they visited this hospitals to bring food and financial help instead? instead of making us  dread with fear!

7. remember the quirino grand stand hostage taking? people in the media just like the reviews, they dont care if we actually die! they just want to get the ratings, and they call themselves the truth? really is the philippines that bad and that ugly? ask that to foreigners and overseas workers,, if this place is so bad why are some people so eager to go home?

8. i just hope we can have better choices, watching television and having limited channels does make the mind shallow. limited, not everything in the news is real. not everything. always remember that. be careful. be vigilant and use your critical thinking. we can still watch this, but why do so if you can watch about better movies, films, books and other works of art!
9. would we be able to attract any investors if the media is focused on destroying our image and self-respect, that is why some media men are killed, not that i agree with this method. but some people want to teach this power hungry journalist to stop and think before they speak. words are powerful.

solution: if you cant leave television behind, watch history channel, national geographic and other nature shows, there you will be reminded of how great the world is, plus it is relaxing and rewarding. if you can leave television behind work on a self fulfilling project instead. meet friends, new people..
